Vintage Condition & Sizing Guide
Changes in diet and lifestyles over recent decades mean that clothing sizes have changed considerably over the years. The size 10 of today is unfortunately not an equal to that of previous decades.
Therefore I have measured each piece carefully to help avoid the disappointment of receiving that beautiful piece only to find it does not fit. All garments are measured on flat surfaces as accurately as I possibly can.
The best method of ensuring the sizing is to measure a garment that fits you well and compare it. Allow an extra 1-2" breathing room. If you have any specific questions or concerns about sizing, please do email me.
Measurements Given:
Bust
Armpit to armpit and then doubled.
Waist
Waist seam or natural waistline and then doubled.
Hips
9" below waist and then doubled.
Shoulders
Seam to seam or natural shoulder
Shoulder to Waist
Top of shoulder to waist seam.
Sleeve
Shoulder seam to cuff or sleeve edge.
Length
Straight down middle centre back to hem.
I also include an estimated UK size based on the measurements where appropriate.
CONDITION
Normal signs of age and wear shouldn't detract from the beauty of vintage items, these garments are meant to be worn and adored, they are extra sepcial because they do have a past and minor flaws reflect this. I am however, very critical of the garments i offer for saleand will not offer naything I would not be happy wearing myself. I want you to fall in love with your purchase, all the surprises when you unwrap your newly acquired piece of the past will I hope be good ones which will make you want to return for more beautiful pieces to add to your collection. I strive to give the best representation of each piece through detailed description and photographs. I will describe any flaws in detail and have listed the classification below to help you in your choices. I am human and at times flaws cam be missed or hidden, in such cases we will of course be happy to arrange a return.
MINT
Perfect & pristine, barely worn. No visible imperfections or flaws.
NEAR MINT
As new no noted flaws.
EXCELLENT
A few minor imperfections which do not compromise the overall quality.
VERY GOOD
Worn & noted minor flaws but still wearable as purchased. Easily repairable.
GOOD
Noted minor flaws, most likely repairable with care. (Small stains; tiny holes; discolouration.)
FAIR Numerous noted flaws, some significant, possibly wearable. More likely study piece, personal collection or amateur dramatics.
