1970s Vittorio Rosato Silk Velvet Evening Gown

This is a true show stopping gown. In rich black velvet with silk wrap shoulder detail the gown hugs the body enhancing every curve and giving fabulous shape.
The bodice is strapless and boned whilst the bottom of the gown is finished with a pure silk ruffle tiered with net underskirting and a silk velvet bow detail at the rear. The ruffle is cut on the slant gaining length at the rear.
This gown is by designer Vittorio Rosato. Rosato was a label carried by Harvey Nichols; Harrods and Selfridges in the 1960s - 1980s. Gowns were all cut to enhance the female shape with the wiggle style of the 1950s forming the base deisgn of many. Fabrics used were of the best quality velvets and silks with attention to detail and finish paramount. 

This gown is a true classic in excellent vintage condition and shows no sign of wear at all.

The gown is part of the couture collection of a well connected lady, a Dior model before her marriage and a very well respected antique dealer and collector in later life. Her passion for fabulous clothing continued throughout her life and every piece was beautifully preserved.
