A fabulous career......

Helen Rose was a highly talented fashion and costume designer. She worked not only for Twentieth Century Fox, but also MGM who she remained with for over 20 years until the 1960s. Between 1950 and 1970 she was nominated for 6 academy awards winning one in 1955 for the film I'll Cry Tomorrow. Young movie stars of the day loved Helen Rose and she designed clothes for them on and off the screen. She dressed stars such as Elizabeth Taylor and Debbie Reynolds, who also wore wedding dresses by the designer. This dress was almost certainly made for a individual off screen.
