1960s Emmy Evening Gown

1960s Emmy gown with fabulous beading detail.

Stunning limited edition and two possible gowns...

There is a stunning turquoise sheath in a dupion silk. Simple elegant cut with couture detailing and boning on the bodice giving fabulous shape and structure to the gown. The rich dupion silk is beautifully light reflective changing the shade of the gown in differing lights.

The sheath fastens with a concealed rear metal zipper and is cut in a straight shift line with a rear split.

Then we have the organze overdress again cut in a straight shift line and with a smaller split at the rear lower hem.

The stunning hand embroidery detail around the waist and lower skirt is finished with handstitched turquoise seed and drop glass beading.

The front has a bateau neckline with narrow shoulders and pleated darting at each side of the waistline giving a very flattering line.

The back of the dress has a keyhole split to the upper back which has the embroidery and trim detail at the fastening.

The hand stitched detailing on this gown really is stunning and effective drawing the eye and creating an illusion of length.

The sheath gown is in fact a stunningly feminine gown when worn alone.

A timeless, versatile and truly feminine piece.

The gown is in mint condition.

Who wore a dress like this....

This cocktail dress is part of a collection acquired from the estate of a very beautiful and well connected lady. A Dior model in the late 1940s, early 1950s she was a truly beautiful young woman who met the love of her life whilst modelling his jewellery creations for Dior. A very well connected couple they had  a long and happy life devoted to one another and their family. They were very much part of the social set of the times and they moved in the very best circles. Hence the acquisition of a couture wardrobe from the very best couture houses of the time including creations from Peter Lewis Crown of Lachasse and Belville Sassoon, garments were carefully planned with occassions in mind, accessories carefully selected, hats designed and cut from the same or coordinating fabrics usually by the royal milliner Simone Mirman. Each piece was cherished and cared for and lovingly stored to ensure that it is all in mint condition today.

This is a large couture collection which we will be offering for sale over a period of time and with each piece we will let you know the name of the beautiful lady who has left such a cherished collection along with an image of her in her younger days...

Not just a beautiful gown but a little piece of history...
