1960s Emmy Dress Suit
Classic 60s Styling...
A fabulous dress and coat set from the 1960s by Emmy.
The dress, in a wedgewwod blue silk rayon type fabric is fully lined with a rayon organza fabric. The high neckline in a cotton lace has been a feature of this seasons designer collections. The lace detail top has a cap sleeve and a keyhole back.
The A line shift has a fabric mock belt attached with a central disc detailing.
The coat in the same wedgewood blue silk fabric and lined with a contrasting rayon is again cut on the ever popular 1960s A-line with a cross over bodice and a side button fastening and waist detail double stitching.
The long diagonally stitched bust darts draw the cut in creating shape in a simple cut.
This is true 1960s styling with a contemporary look and would be perfect for any formal summer occassion. It is also the perfect Goodwood outfit for those favouring the mods and rockers era but in a more formal style perhaps.
This suit is in absolute mint condition.
Who wore a dress like this....
This cocktail dress is part of a collection acquired from the estate of a very beautiful and well connected lady. A Dior model in the late 1940s, early 1950s she was a truly beautiful young woman who met the love of her life whilst modelling his jewellery creations for Dior. A very well connected couple they had a long and happy life devoted to one another and their family. They were very much part of the social set of the times and they moved in the very best circles. Hence the acquisition of a couture wardrobe from the very best couture houses of the time including creations from Peter Lewis Crown of Lachasse and Belville Sassoon, garments were carefully planned with occassions in mind, accessories carefully selected, hats designed and cut from the same or coordinating fabrics usually by the royal milliner Simone Mirman. Each piece was cherished and cared for and lovingly stored to ensure that it is all in mint condition today.
This is a large couture collection which we will be offering for sale over a period of time and with each piece we will let you know the name of the beautiful lady who has left such a cherished collection along with an image of her in her younger days...
