This super dress is completely unworn, with original tags bearing the designer labels name, Garner. As well as this making it that little bit more special the dress is also an unusual piece of vintage history.
Although designed by Garner London, this dress was sold by department store Derry and Toms, whose company dated back to the 1860s. In 1932 the company moved to Kensington High Street to an Art Deco designed building. In the 1950s it held many dinner dances for companies and government departments until the early1970s when the building was brought by Biba and the company became no more.
This teal dress is made from a wool blend, and unlined making it light on the body, while remaining warm, smart and stylish. The collarless neckline makes the dress so wearable and adds a touch of elegance. Slightly darker teal buttons fasten to one side the coat dress, which adds interest to an otherwise simple shape. The sleeves are slightly fitted with elbow darts. The dress has a matching fabric belt.
