This unusual box jacket is a fabulous example of the popularity of this particular style during the 1950s. The silhouette was made iconic by Chanel who wanted to offer less restrictive shapes than those of Christian Dior. Chanel made suits from softer knits, with jackets open at the waist, made for movement. Her now classic box shape was reproduced by designers and manufacturers everywhere.
This jacket was made by label Leaders Fashions. The fabric is a high quality pale blue wool, with a lovely surface stitch texture. It is fully lined in a lovely satiny contrasting lining in puce pink. The jacket is collarless as was the style and has two beautiful knot shaped buttons in coordinating pale blue. One button sits at the neckline and one is at the bottom of the jacket near to the hem. The sleeve cuffs feature lovely twisted fabric shapes similar to that of the buttons. It is clear that this jacket was designed in a considered manner with no expense spared.
The stand out feature of this dress is the blonde fur wrap collar, in immaculate condition.
In near mint condition.
