We've been having fun...

Fashion Shows, Photoshoots and Lots of Vintage Dress Up!

We are now all settled in at Stuff & Good Sense on the Pantiles here in Tunbridge Wells. We couldn't stop at a little daywear collection so we have brought along gowns, dresses, suits, hats, gloves everything you need to complete a vintage look or just add a little individuality to your high street outfit...

We have dressed some lovely ladies for Goodwood Revival, sold some fabulous gowns, and an absolutely stunning mink jacket left with a very happy lady who just couldn't resist, it  could have been made for her so perfect was it.

That mink jacket came from a collection recently sourced. It belonged to a beautiful young woman who left England in the 1930s to marry her German beau, she remained in Germany throughout the second world war before returning to England. A truly beautiful lady and a lovely story...

Yesterday we had an evening shoot at the shop, the girls started off with Jamie at SW1 Hairdressing giving them fabulous vintage updos, then Caroline of Powder & Glow  waved her magic make up brushes and finished the look to perfection. Snappy David turned on the lights primed his camera and we were off.  Here's a fab image of  India  to tease you, follow us on twitter or like us on facebook to see all the pics from the evening...

And in the midst of everything else there was yet another Gently Worn fashion show at the Pantiles Fashion Festival, a great weekend organised by Lady M ofwww.ladympresents.co.uk. The girls were all beautiful and the shows were fabulous, . Our gorgeous Sassoon Dress made the front page of the papers with more lovely images inside and Carole did a little vintage styling on the bandstand each day.

We have acquired some fabulous new pieces perfect for the Autumnal weather which seems to have made an early appearance and we shall be adding these to the website over the next week or so.

We shall be introducing a hire service in September, for those occassions when you want something special and unique you will be able to hire all our gowns and dresses along with accessories. Sign up for our newsletter on the homepage and you will be among the first to hear of this service with some very special discount offers in the coming months.

We have lots of ideas for events at our new home and we will be announcing details on the Events page of the website in the next week or so. Keep those eyes peeled you really dont want to  miss out on some good old fashioned girly fun!

A Vintage Fair And So Much More...

What a fabulous weeekend we had at the Pantiles Vintage Fair last week.

Gently Worn Vintage organised and presented the fashion shows on the bandstand throughout the day and a fabulous time was had by all. Our gorgeous models all did so well,  I felt like a proud parent seeing them all on the stage looking amazing. I myself made a reluctant stage debut introducing the shows and the best dressed vintage competition and actually enjoyed every moment - perhaps a little too much!!

Some fabulous pics of the shows with Georgia and Izzy in Gently Worn Vintage, and of course couldn't forget the lovely boys, Rowan & Amin in Vintage & Labels uniforms...

The weather was kind to us and the weekend was a great success, we will be doing it all again next Summer!

For Gently Worn Vintage the weekend was indeed a huge success. Pictures of our evening gowns were sent to a buyer at a top London store who called the next day and the Gently Worn Vintage couture evening collection is all prepared for a launch. More on that next month....

Meanwhile we had such a success with the Vintage Fair and loved working with Gaynor from Stuff & Good Sense, a fabulous vintage home store on the Tunbridge Wells Pantiles that we have today launched the GWV daywear collection in the store. As you can see from the pictures it's the perfect backdrop for our vintage treasures.

We will be having regular vintage events at the store and I shall be instore on selected days to chat all things vintage and offer styling advice. We can also offer out of hours private appointments for styling or to view our couture evening wear. If you haven't yet registered for our newsletter at www.gentlywornvintage.co.uk now's the time to do so to make sure you are among the first to hear about vintage happenings on the Pantiles.

This weekend we have dressed the gorgeous Laura in a fabulous 1930s Gently Worn evening gown and accessories to a fashionista wedding in Florence which is being covered by Hello magazine. Can't wait to see the pics!

Next week will see us adding to the collection within Stuff & Good Sense; having a photoshoot at the Store; revealing details of our first event at the store, and a very secret sourcing trip for me...

Busy but exciting times for Gently Worn Vintage...

Such Busy Times....

Such busy times...

Wow what a great few weeks here at GWV Towers.

Lovely ladies from all over the South East have been visiting our studio to view the Gently Worn collection and some very happy girlies have left with gorgeous gowns for vintage balls and fabulous wedding outfits. It's so lovely to see someone so excited by a fabulously special vintage purchase.

The website has been busy too with fabulous dresses heading all over the world. Winging their way across the pond this week we have a fabulous prom dress to New York, a gorgeous wedding gown to LA and one of my all time favourite gowns to make it's debut on a Texas stage.

Channel 4 called and asked could we help Style the Nation, wonder what we said to that? Watch this space...

Time Out called wanting to include us in their top London Vintage stores guide, sadly had to tell them we've now left the big city but nice to know we impressed!

Comments from both were that we are unique and yes we think we are. Carole's own style of glamour and elegance are the influence behind the collection at Gently Worn, couture dresses and gowns are always our favourite pieces. We love watching the transformation of our ladies when they put on one of our gorgeous dresses or gowns and seeing a little piece of history getting another special outing.

We took our wares to Spitalfields on Bank Holiday Monday and sooo many lovely people took the time to stop and tell us they thought we had the nicest collection and the most beautiful dresses, something we hear a lot when we hit the road. Gently Worn may not be your everyday outfit destination, we are here whenever you need that really special one off piece that will stand out from the crowd because of it's sheer beauty and ability to give you your own Grace Kelly moment; or for that vintage occassion when you need a little help from someone who knows their fashion history and ensures you are styled correctly for the occassion. Our clients often tell us people commented they were the most authentic and best dressed at such occassions...

Sadly I forget I am not superwoman and there are only 24 hours in a day so rash promises to do everything today don't work! But there are now some fabulous new additions to the website...

We have already added some great little 1950s day dresses and one or two gorgeous prom dresses, from Mad Men foxy lady to pretty in pink http://gentlywornvintage.co.uk/category/1950s-day-dresses/. Elegance and style are our signature look and our newly sourced pieces are oozing with both...

We also thought it was time we added some fabulous finishing touches to our collection and you will now find some amazing couture hats, also gloves and bags at http://gentlywornvintage.co.uk/category/vintage-jewellery---accessories/, more to come very soon and perfect for all those very special summer occassions. Our newly sourced items include the most fabulous collection of vintage hats which are in the most amazing condition. Workmanship such as you don't see today and you will truly be wearing a one off unique creation of timeless quality and style.

As I write this I am looking at the most amazing collection of couture from the late 1950s to early 1960s ever... This is couture at it's best, all part of the collection of a Dior model in the late 1940s to early 1950s. Each piece created for her, worn once or twice and stored beautifully ensuring every piece is still in mint condition. Sadly some pieces will never make it to the website as they have already found new homes so special were they. We shall be adding these lovely pieces over the next couple of weeks so keep those eyes peeled...

Remember our website does not have our entire stock showing, we don't want to overwhelm you! If you are looking for something special email Carole; carole@gentlywornvintage.co.uk or call 07827960389 and we may have just what you are looking for, if not we are always happy to source individual pieces for clients.

And we close with a promise that we will be updating our blog regularly, not just to sing our own praises but to keep you up to date with events, news and lots of vintage loveliness.

Still Here....

Well it’s been a bit of an annus horriblus here at Gently Worn so apologies for neglecting everyone and not keeping you up to date with happenings. BUT the good news is we are now declaring this horriblus officially done, picking ourselves up, shaking ourselves off and moving on…

Sadly, we are no longer at Alfies but back in Tunbridge Wells where we are very happy to see any of our lovely clients by appointment ensuring you have the personal attention we feel you deserve.

Over the next few days we will be adding new stock to the website and we have some truly gorgeous items which we have been quietly sourcing over the last few months and can’t wait to share with everyone. This weekend will bring you some fabulous day wear and accessories from the pretty pink dresses to the bright colour block yellow, day dresses they may be but in our usual signature style they are a little bit more special than most...

We have some fabulous new bags, perfect to accessorise that special Ascot or wedding outfit, sourced by the lovely Linda who cannot resist a fabulous bag of any kind!

Next week we have some very special additions to the Gently Worn Collection, Carole has sourced fabulous pieces from one of the most beautiful and special collections she has had the pleasure of viewing. All from the wardrobe of one very special and beautiful lady and each and every single piece lovingly cared for. We are soooo excited to be sharing this with you, eyes peeled these pieces are so special they won't be around for long.

Carole is soon to head off on her travels finding inspiration for some exciting plans we are developing for the Autumn, all will be revealed over the next few months.

Just a short post today to say hello, sorry and let you all know we are still here busily working on some new and exciting projects but also continuing to do what we do best, sourcing those extra special gowns, dresses and accessories for you. Follow our tweets now @gentlyworn to ensure you don't miss any of these fabulous pieces.

Tunbridge Wells fashion week..

03.10.10

We had a truly fabulous time showing at Tunbridge Wells fashion week and what an amazing reaction to our collection we've had!

The Brewhouse served as the prefect backdrop to showcase all of the wonderful local boutiques. We felt very proud to show our vintage on the catwalk, both nights proving a real success down to the hardwork of all involved.

For a few minutes it was as if we had been transported back to bygone eras, the decadent gowns, stunning millinery and beautiful jewels shined and sparkled in the catwalk lights.

My favourite moment was seeing the Hartnell gown and Peacock hat by Catherine Povery come sashaying down the catwalk. The Hartnell gown is a true piece of couture history and teamed with the peacock feather millinery (made especially for us by Cath) it became a true showstopper. I think my heart might have actually skipped a beat on seeing Jana in this one.

Our second outfit was the 1950's black lace dress, another stunning gown. Helen looks as if she has been transported straight from a 1950's ballroom.

Elisabetta looked so beautiful in our pale dusty blue beaded gown.

The 1960's heavily beaded gown twinkled and sparkled under the catwalk lights. One of our most special pieces in our collection..so unique.

The 1920's flapper dress and coat had a lot of interest from the show and consequently the beautiful velvet coat has gone to a very good home. So sad to see it go but so happy that its new owner loves it just as much as we do.

Ellas satin beaded gown looked as it it had been made just for her.

So all in all a wonderful event with some great write ups in local press and so many lovely comments from local Tunbridge Wells people. Thankyou to everyone!

Also a special thankyou to Alix of 'Tunbridge Wells People' for yet another great mention of Gently Worn Vintage.

The most stylish roots...

08.09.10

I always knew that our love of fashion runs in the Gently Worn family, we are after all a mother and daughter team working together to create the ultimate treasure trove of vintage.

But...I never really knew just how stylish my Nana and Grandad were. My Mum recently found some photos from the 1950's of my grandparents, they were a very handsome couple indeed.

I absolutely love this photo of them, my Nana looks so chic in her 1950'S day dress and my Grandad looks like the coolest guy I've ever seen.
